After the early death of his beloved wife Herminie, the Romanian “Count” raises his son Ferdinand alone, but his son finds it difficult to come to terms with being a bloodsucker. When the communists occupy the family's ancestral castle, the two flee to Western Europe. Due to unfortunate circumstances, they end up on opposite sides of the English Channel: Ferdinand in France, where he befriends migrant workers and scrapes by, and the Count in England, where he becomes a horror movie star. The two meet again during a film shoot in France, but their cozy togetherness is soon disrupted by the pretty, desirable Nicole.
Comedy specialist Édouard Molinaro (A CAGE FULL OF FOOLS) created an excellent parody of the vampire film genre with THE LORDS OF DRACULA, which perfectly combines horror and humor. The casting of Christopher Lee as the vampire count proves to be a stroke of genius, making this film a highlight of 1970s fantasy cinema.
