Based on Verne's book, five prisoners of war escape from a camp during the Civil War in a balloon and land on an uninhabited island in the Pacific. As they try to come to terms with their lives, they discover that someone is helping them: Captain Nemo with his Nautilus. The island holds great secrets and the men are about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.

 

The film is considered one of the most faithful adaptations of Verne's novel.
