An alien form of fungus, the dangerous blood rust, is proliferating in Dr Pommer's laboratory. After Pommer's ex-girlfriend leaves after an argument, the scientist himself falls victim to the all-consuming fungal carpet. Without her knowledge, the girlfriend carries spores of the fungus on her suitcase, ensuring that she leaves a trail of fungal attacks. Two special agents are hot on her trail, but the search is complicated by the fact that the woman knows nothing about the blood rust. Can the agents prevent the blood rust, which may have already destroyed civilisation on Mars, from spreading?
With FORCE 10 FROM OUTER SPACE, the experienced genre specialist Edward Bernds created an interesting hybrid of science fiction and crime film, which was clearly influenced by the successful TV series POLICE REPORT of the time. A rarely seen film from the golden age of American science fiction thrillers.
NOTE: Since its theatrical release in 1958, SPACEMASTER X-7 has led a shadowy existence. In its home country, no adequate template is available to present the film in its original 2.35:1 format. The last German 35mm film copy dates from 1960. This rare archive copy served as the template for this release.
