Standard Edition
A group of Egyptologists open the tomb of Princess Ananka in 1895. Ignoring the warnings of the mysterious Mehemet Bey, they fall victim to the mummy of the high priest Kharis, who has been brought back to life by the words of the Scroll of Thot. Under the influence of the fundamentalist Mehemet Bey, Kharis proves to be a killing machine until he believes to see the reincarnation of his beloved Ananka in a young woman and disappears with her into a swamp.
Under the mask of the physically strong mummy, actor Christopher Lee suffered real torment. He played the role with the lithe grace of an animal, but suffered many injuries during the filming. One of the great Hammer classics, lavishly produced and with an unusually powerful score by Nuremberg-born composer and pianist Franz Reizenstein.
