A thriller in the style of Alfred Hitchcock, written by Anthony Dawson, one of Hitchcock's actors. THE SNORCHEL describes a perfect crime, or rather an almost perfect crime. The murderer pursues a perfidious plan to get rid of his wealthy wife, who turns to someone else. Nobody suspects a thing. For the police, it is suicide. The file is closed. Only 14-year-old Candy, the perpetrator's stepdaughter, suspects that her mother was the victim of a crime. So she too must be eliminated according to the perpetrator's logic, using the same method: gas.
Hammer producer Michael Carreras engaged a German for the role of the ice-cold murderer: Peter van Eyck, who became internationally known for his role in the global success LOHN DER ANGST. The locations in particular give this film a sophisticated flair. The film was shot on the French Riviera and in Italy, in the historic Villa della Pergola in Liguria, which served as a source of inspiration for Maxim Gorky, Ernest Hemingway and Alfred Hitchcock.
