At the beginning of the 20th century, Dr. Jakob ten Brinken creates a girl he calls Alraune by artificially inseminating a prostitute with the semen of a hanged murderer. With his experiment he wants to prove that the wickedness of man is already in his genes. Alraune, who is beautiful but visibly cold, will therefore bring all men to their doom who get involved with her. Then ten Brinken's nephew Frank falls in love with the mysterious beauty.
