Synopsis:
Liz, Kristy and Ben are on a wild road trip through the Australian outback. The first highlight is the Wolf Creek meteorite crater. There, in the middle of nowhere, their car breaks down. Fortunately, Mick Taylor, an old hunter, turns up at night and offers them his help – he drags them to his remote farm. But the friendly helper in need soon turns out to be a sadistic monster with a penchant for torture. While Taylor sharpens the knife, the young tourists begin their fight for survival...
With his blood-drenched and polarising debut film, writer and director Greg McLean delivered a mixture of tangible horror and psychological terror that takes place in the mind (Filmstarts.de), thus laying the foundation for film and series sequels.
UHD world premiere, remastered Blu-ray - in a limited 2-disc Mediabook.
Director Greg McLean on UHD: It's a pleasure to see such a sharp, clear and colourful copy of the film. A large part of the film's atmosphere and suspense comes from the detailed and eerie light and shadow effects captured by our cameraman, and from the breathtaking, unique colours of the Australian outback. All of this comes into its own in this excellent presentation.
Backwood Terror shows its new face, WOLF CREEK has created a new franchise.
