In 1964, a team of researchers is working to conquer the barriers of time. Using laser beams, Dr. Erik von Steiner and his colleagues open a gateway into the future. The world of 2071 reveals itself as a wasteland transformed by nuclear explosions. Fleeing from bloodthirsty mutants – survivors of a great catastrophe scarred by radiation and genetic damage – they are taken in by scientists of the future who, with the help of androids, have built a spacecraft intended to carry them to another solar system. But shortly before launch, the mutants break into their facility, overpower the androids and destroy the spacecraft.

Ib Melchior, to whom we owe The Angry Red Planet and the screenplay for Reptilicus, brought this futuristic tale to life with a host of ingenious visual effects. Working with a comparatively modest budget, he created a frightening vision of the future from which there appears to be no escape.
