Washed-up and forgotten music manager Kenneth Barlow, who in his heyday once organized tours for the Rolling Stones, is determined to land another major success at any cost and turn an unknown musician into an overnight star. To achieve this, he sets his sights on the naive, fresh-faced Moody Mudinsky, intending to use him to replace the popularity of punk. Barlow has no real interest in the boy himself; all that matters to him are headlines and profit.
With the help of a henchman, he orchestrates street battles and riots, stopping at nothing to achieve his selfish goal. But when a staged assassination attempt on his protégé results in the death of a young girl, the situation spirals completely out of control, and reality strikes back without mercy.
