After their plane explodes shortly before arrival, a group of researchers finds themselves stranded on the Pacific island where they had intended to investigate the effects of the atomic bomb tests conducted there. However, the scientists soon discover that, as a result of the tests, the island is now dominated by mutated giant crabs that are not only extremely dangerous and voracious but have also become highly intelligent due to radioactive exposure and are determined to turn the humans into their prey. The struggle for survival becomes even more dramatic when seismic activity threatens to tear the entire island apart and cause it to sink into the sea.

Produced in a very short time on a shoestring budget but featuring an imposing monster, ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS is considered one of Roger Corman's most iconic and profitable films. It also reunites Richard Garland, Pamela Duncan and Mel Welles, who had previously appeared together in Corman's THE UNDEAD.
