Synopsis:
A man is brutally executed in broad daylight. While his blood is still drying on the dusty asphalt, the law has already lost. Because in this Sicilian village, the police are not in charge – the Mafia rules!
When the incorruptible Carabinieri Captain Bellodi takes over the investigation, he encounters a wall of fear, lies and an iron code of silence. Nobody has seen anything. Nobody has heard anything. And nobody dares to speak the name of the real killer.
Bellodi dares to do the unthinkable: He takes on the most powerful man in Sicily.
With persistence, courage and keen investigative instincts, he attempts to tear apart the web of corruption and crime. But the closer he gets to the truth, the more dangerous his fight becomes.
Because in a world where the Mafia decides who lives and who dies, the truth is a deadly weapon. Witnesses disappear, evidence is manipulated, and the lines between right and wrong become increasingly blurred.
THE DAY OF THE OWL – an explosive thriller about a society in the stranglehold of the Mafia. A struggle in which courage alone is not enough, justice appears to be for sale, and one haunting question remains: What good is the truth when those in power decide what becomes of it?
