Strange events are taking place in a small town in Nevada: people are turning to stone as if they had encountered the cruel Medusa from Greek mythology. What is responsible for this and how can it be stopped? A geologist must answer this question, but what he discovers during his investigations is far more threatening. Black crystals have fallen to Earth from space, robbing human bodies of their lives, growing uncontrollably on contact with water and threatening to bury an entire town beneath them.
THE SECRET OF THE STONE MONSTER is another science fiction classic from Universal Studios, based on an idea by cult director Jack Arnold (TARANTULA). Grant Williams (THE INCREDIBLE STORY OF MR. C.), Lola Albright, and Les Tremayne (BATTLE OF THE WORLD) are the heroes of the film, which unleashes a particularly unusual monster on humanity.
