The spectacular adventure film from the creators of ONE MILLION YEARS B.C. takes us back to a time when Homo sapiens supposedly still shared the Earth with dinosaurs. The mix of Stone Age pin-up girls (including Playboy Playmate Victoria Vetri), stop-motion dinosaurs and flying creatures, including plesiosaurs, chasmosauruses, beaked rhamphorhynchus, baby saurus and mother saurus, was the only Hammer production ever to be nominated for an Oscar.
The visual effects, which were extraordinary for their time – breathtaking combinations of models, glass paintings and live action – came from the workshop of Jim Danforth, David Allen and Roger Dicken, and their detailed sophistication is still inspiring today.
